Pop, Fizz, Cheers! This Season's Lineup of Bubbly by Style

Ah, sparkling wine - bubbly, lively, and oh-so-fun! Whether you’re toasting a milestone or just feeling fancy on a random weeknight, sparkling wine has become more than just a celebratory wine.

And, not all bubbles are created equal! Here are a few of our favorites.

Champagne: The OG of Sparkles

If sparkling wine were a celebrity, Champagne would be on the red carpet. Made exclusively in the Champagne region of France, it follows strict rules about grapes (Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier) and production. Known for its elegance, we love the classic taste notes of brioche, apple, and sometimes a whisper of nuttiness. Fun fact: the bubbles are created by a second fermentation in the bottle, called the méthode champenoise. Fancy, right?

Best for: Weddings, New Year’s Eve, or when you just got a promotion and want to feel très chic.

🍾This season we're sipping on Champagne Paul Bara, $85

Crémant: Champagne’s Cool French Cousin

Crémant is the under-the-radar sparkling wine from France, made outside of the Champagne region. It comes from places like Alsace, Burgundy, and the Loire Valley. Since it doesn’t carry the Champagne label, it’s tends to be more affordable while still delivering those luscious, toasty vibes.

Best for: Impressing your wine-loving friend without blowing your budget.

🍾This season we're sipping on Pepin's Crémant d'Alsace, $30

Sparkling Rosé: The Blush Bubbly

Pink, pretty, and packed with flavor, sparkling rosé gets a bit of color from red grapes, either through a short maceration period or blending. Think strawberries, raspberries, and pure happiness.

Best for: Dinner parties, casual hangs, date night, or just feeling a little extra.

🍾This season we're sipping on L'archetipo's Susumante, $29
Or try something slightly sweet with Catherine & Patrick Bottex's La Cueille, $29

Lambrusco: Bubbles with a Twist

This one’s a game-changer! Lambrusco is a sparkling red wine from Italy. It’s bold, fruity, and oh-so-sippable. The extra tannins open up a whole new world of food pairings. You’ll get notes of blackberry, cherry, and a touch of fizz that pairs perfectly with pizza (seriously, try it).

Best for: Pizza nights, red-sauce anything, BBQs, or when you want to surprise your taste buds.

🍾This season we're sipping on Emilio's Lambrusco, $29

Frizzante: The Gentle Fizz

Frizzante is like the introvert of the sparkling wine world—subtle, soft, and totally charming once you get to know it. This semi-sparkling style is most commonly found in Italian wines like Prosecco or Moscato. Its bubbles are lighter and less aggressive than fully sparkling wines (spumante), making it a mellow option for when you want just a touch of effervescence. Think of it as the Goldilocks of bubbles—not too much, not too little, but just right.

Best for: Picnics, casual dinners, or whenever you want bubbles without the buzz (or splash) of a big pop.

🍾This season try a slightly-sweet moscato, Elio Perone's Sourgal, $25

Pro Tip: Always serve sparkling wine chilled (around 45°F/7°C) for the best experience. And if you’re feeling extra playful, pair it with oilier snacks like fried chicken or popcorn.
