This liter of delicious local German varietals comes from the land of white wine experts and centuries of farming grapes on some of the steepest cliffs in the world. The vines grow in the Mosel Valley at sharp angles - a position that helps the grapes soak up the sun. The soil is full of ancient stones and minerals. These cool stones give the wine a crisp, clean taste, just like a splash of cold water on a hot day.
Fresh, bright, and bone dry with hints of green apple and Meyer lemon. Tart orchard fruit notes and a touch of slate minerality.
Delicious With
Green curry or Pad Thai. Ceviche, grilled white fish. Cuts through the fat of fish and chips or schnitzel. Try with tangy goat cheese or citrus dressings. Enhances clean flavors of raw fish and ginger. And of course, pairs excellently with classic German sausages or pork chops.
Their Cred
Wolgemuthheim has been a family-owned estate on the Terrassen-Mosel since 1719. The 4 hectares of vines are located on the steepest southwest-facing slopes in Merl on blue and grey slate soil, only harvested by hand. Century-old vines inhabit their monopole parcels, while other plots house younger vines. In 2015 Michael assumed the reins of the operation - the 8th generation of the family to do so - and has steered the practices toward a more minimalist approach.
