The Southern French inspired blend comes from biodynamic vineyards in Oregon, just a few miles north of the California boarder. Some new oak gives these sun-ripened grapes such a silky rich texture it's hard to imagine a more beautiful expression. The Grenache sets the overall tone, with bright playful strawberry and a little lifted citrus. Then Syrah provides darkly concentrated aromas and structure, and the Mourvèdre inserts brooding savory notes and some more textural depth. A stunning red blend for when you need a red blend.
Delicious With
Braised beef short ribs with horseradish mashed potatoes, duck confit, or slow-roasted leg of lamb with a rosemary rub. Smoky pulled pork or baby back ribs slathered in a cherry-infused barbecue sauce. Mushroom risotto or a hearty wild mushroom and goat cheese flatbread.
Their Cred
At Cowhorn Vineyard & Garden, the vineyard is far more than just a place where grapes grow — it is a thriving, self-sustaining ecosystem where the interplay of soil, plants, animals, and cosmic rhythms creates a delicate balance essential for vitality and resilience. Each component, from the microscopic life within the soil to the native flora and fauna that surround the vines, plays a critical role in nurturing the health and long-term sustainability of the land.
Founded in 2005 by Bill and Barbara Steele, Cowhorn was among the first five wineries in the United States to achieve biodynamic certification. This pioneering commitment reflects their deep belief that regenerative agriculture is vital not only for producing exceptional wines, but for restoring and protecting the environment.
This biodynamic winery and farm is nestled in the fertile Applegate Valley of southern Oregon, just a few miles north of the California border. Cowhorn’s nature-focused farming and harmony with the ecosystem as a whole produces site-specific wine that represent a sense of time and place. Vinified using a low-intervention approach, the result is an unmistakable wine that reflects the healthy, nutrient-rich vineyard from which it comes.
Cowhorn grows grape varietals that are historically associated with the Rhône River wine region of France: Syrah and Grenache for red wine, and Viognier, Marsanne, and Roussanne for white wine. Impressively, all of Cowhorn’s wines are made with 100% estate-grown fruit from 25 planted acres, receiving more than 100 90+ scores over the years.
