Angiolino Maule, the visionary behind La Biancara, is a pioneering force in Italy’s natural wine movement who transitioned from running a beloved pizzeria with his wife to dedicating himself fully to biodynamic viticulture in the volcanic, clay-rich soils of Gambellara, Veneto. Since founding La Biancara in 1988 on a modest 15-hectare estate, Maule has championed minimal intervention winemaking-eschewing commercial yeasts, filtration, and excessive additives-to craft wines that are pure expressions of terroir and nature’s rhythm. Supported by his sons who help tend the vineyards and cellar, Maule’s philosophy blends stubborn perfectionism with a deep respect for the land, producing wines that are as honest and soulful as the man himself, and have become benchmarks for natural wine in the region and beyond.
