Guido’s Dolcetto vines are at the top of a famed slope, peering down on acres upon acres of Nebbiolo destined for world-class Barolo. In such a prime position, the vines benefit from abundant and direct sunshine. Add to this the limestone-rich soils in which they’re planted and the warmer climate around this part of the Alba region, and it’s no surprise why this rosso shows a little more structure and heft than you find in other Dolcetto wines from the Langhe. Crushed blackberries, earth, and stones, this red offers a great match for stew-y, mushroom-y, comforting meals. This soft, easy-drinking, low acid wine makes it especially versatile with many foods.
Delicious With

Delicious with mushroom risotto or your favorite stew. Pairs well with pizza, tomato sauce, eggplant parmigiana, lasagna, and spaghetti and meatball dishes. Great with burgers, ribs, and vegetable curries.

Their Cred

Reviews and notes on Guido Porro regularly refer to him as “under the radar." His wines are worthy of a stellar reputation, but he is too easygoing and unassuming to worry about whether the wine-drinking public recognizes his name.

Guido is the fourth generation at an estate that has always been passed from father to son, and although Guido's son Fabio hasn’t reached middle school, he is already showing a keen curiosity in the family business. The Porros continue to work just as their predecessors did - the only major change over the last few decades has been the decision to bottle at the estate. Guido sticks to traditional methods in the vineyards and cellar, and he never gets in the way of the grapes’ natural expression.
