Like a savory black cherry pie, loaded with ripe fruit, peppered with velvety bubbles, and no hint of sweetness. This beauty is dry, but far from lean with a gorgeous silky mouthfeel. Lambrusco is actually a family of red grapes with more than 60 identifiable varieties that fall under the Lambrusco umbrella. This one is made from the lower-yielding Grasparossa grape; thought to produce the greatest quality wine.

Delicious With

Serve with something rich like an all-day Bolognese. Perfect with red-sauce pizza, cheese and charcuterie, and skillet meatballs.

Their Cred

Emilio is Mattia Montanari’s first project beyond his family’s successful, eponymous winery. Vines were planted approximately 10-15 years ago in soil of clay and sand. The project name “Emilio” pays homage to the ancient roadway, via Emilia, which passes the region’s key cities. The name of each cuvee refers to a famous area, honoring the opera roots of Mattia’s hometown Modena (which the iconic opera singer Luciano Pavarotti himself called home.) Needless to say, the wines are thrilling with regional delicacies like Prosciutto di Parma, Parmigiano-Reggiano, Modena balsamic vinegar and tortellini. All wines are certified organic.
