This is Cabernet before everyone made Cab. From Paso Robles, so it’s got the sun-drenched, plump raisin and date vibe, but also crafted with a low intervention mindset that keeps this wine honest and delicate and drinkable. It’s unfined and unfiltered, which means this baby has texture! A real classic Cabernet made by farmers who appreciate the beauty of this grape fresh-pressed right off the vine. Impossible not to love.

Delicious With

Great with hearty well-seasoned dishes like birria tacos, Lamb Dal, lamb or beef Kafta, mole, grilled Merguez sausages, braised shredded beef and potatoes, or Saag Paneer (for a hearty veggie option).

Their Cred

Curt Schalchlin is the winemaker and visionary for both Sans Liege and Groundwork Wine Company. Sourcing from vineyards that span from Paso Robles to Solvang, California, his dedication to making natural wines that express the unique vineyards and landscapes is inspiring. As an East Los Angeles native, Curt moved to San Luis Obispo to help some friends out and cut his teeth in the cellar. Fast forward to “naively,” as he put it, start his own business and now makes two different wine labels and some smoking good honest wines.
