If Nebbiolo is the grape of kings, Barbera is the grape of the people. This Barbera is rich mainly due to its deep purple color, but don't let that fool you into thinking it's a heavy wine. The crushed cherry pie flavor makes for a juicy, punchy Pinot Noir alternative with all the festive flavors this season.

Delicious With

Creamy pasta dishes, cold cuts, mushrooms (any umami flavors like soy sauce or beef broth), peppers, root vegetables, and assorted winter greens. Delicious with classic cranberry sauce, stuffing, and turkey legs.

Their Cred

Stefano Perrone, took over the duties of the family Domaine named for his father, Elio Perrone. A retired champion motocross racer, Stefano’s now legendary reputation rests squarely on his production of Moscato in Italy’s famous Asti subregion of Piedmont. He makes only a few hundred cases of his top end Moscatos and began experimenting with native red varietals, Barbera and Brachetto, in the late 90’s. Bigarò, the half and half blend of Moscato and Brachetto, is now well-known in the chef community as a divine food pairing wine.
