Honestly the best Pinot Blanc we’ve ever had. If you’ve yet to try this grape variety, this is possibly the only one you ever need to have – it’s that good. Like a fall orchard delicately pressed into the glass, then laden with silk. Loads of green apple, pear skin, slightly floral. Then there is a lime and salt combo that makes an appearance in this steely, bright, and zesty white.
Because this wine has both the zippiness and the silkiness, it can pair with both acid or cream. Or combine both flavors and pair with fresh goat cheese for a mind-bending culinary experience. Light, bright salads, or lightly dressed wilted greens. Creamy pastas and hearty orzo. Fabulous with scallops.
Ryan Deovlet is one of the Central Coast’s most talented winemakers. A protégé of Richard Sanford, the pioneer of the Sta. Rita Hills AVA, Deovlet crafts beautifully balanced and nuanced wines from top sites in and around Santa Barbara. His Pinot Blanc comes from a vineyard planted by Sanford in 2000. The site is on the south side of the appellation, immediately west of the Sanford & Benedict Vineyard, some seven miles from the ocean.
