Villa Sant'Anna | Rossi di Montepulciano

Everyday red from an impressive Tuscan region

This is a wine that WAY over-delivers for the price. From an estate run by Simona Ruggeri and her two daughters, Anna and Margharita, in the very prestigious Vino Nobile de Montepulciano region, this wine is the slightly less aged version made primarily of the local variety of Sangiovese. This Rosso has that perfect balance of punchy fruit and crisp brightness that makes it a dream pairing wine with all things tomato (and the like).

Their Cred

This beautiful estate in the village of Abbadia di Montepulciano in the hills of southern Tuscany is owned and operated by Simona Ruggeri and her two daughters, Anna and Margharita. This estate is predominantly devoted to the production of fruits and vegetables, with only approximately 25 acres of prime hillside land set aside for the cultivation of the finest Tuscan grape varietals. Prior to 1989 the wine was sold off in bulk, but with the 1990 vintage the estate began bottling its own wine. The women have since expanded their vineyard holdings to include a prime parcel of land in the Vino Nobile appellation, and production of the Rosso di Montepulciano began in 1999.
