Peciña | 2014 Reserva Rioja
An aged Spanish classic
Rioja (Spanish) wines are so beautifully traditional, patiently aged, and designed to be enjoyed upon release. This Reserva from 2014 has well over the required 3 years of aging for its classification, and could now be considered a Gran Reserva, which requires at least 5 years. Classically prune-y and raisin-y, mouth-coating, and remarkably bright. There’s a satisfying wood-grain dustiness to it that reminds us how well Tempranillo wines like this take to age.

Delicious With
This aged wine does very well with long-cooked meals – so get the slow cooker or Dutch oven out! Braised meats like brisket or tenderloin, classic Spanish chorizo and beans, or albondigas (meatballs) in red sauce. Hearty Shepherds pie, merguez sausages, or moussaka. Or try a surprising, but delicious pairing with Indian food.
